Anxiety Bath and Oil burner Add two drops each of lemon, lime and lavender to either a bath of warm water or to an oil burner. Relax in the bath for 15mins. (if you suffer from anxiety try to have regular massages to relieve the build-up of physical tension). Arthritis Massage for pain relief Blend 5 drops of rosemary oil with two tablespoons of sweet almond oil. Massage this blend into the affected areas or add some to a warm bath.
Bites, rashes and stings Gently apply a cotton bud dipped in a mixture of 1 drop lavender and 1 drop tea-tree to the affected area. NB Some people are quite sensitive to tea-tree oil, if you are not sure test a very small amount of this mixture on your skin first. Blisters Put a drop of lavender and a drop of lemon onto a cotton bud and apply it to the blister. Repeat this twice daily until healed. Boils Blend either two drops of lavender and two drops of tea-tree or thyme in a bowl of hot water. Bath the affected area twice a day with this mixture. Burns You should always bath a minor burn under a stream of cold water for 10mins. You can then apply two drops of lavender directly onto the burn. If it is still painful then add ten drops of lavender to a bowl of cold water and soak the burn. Bruises Compress Soak a face cloth in a bowl of ice cold water to which three drops rosemary, one drop geranium and two drops of lavender have been added. Place the cloth over the bruise to relieve pain and reduce swelling. Oil ointment After the compress add two drops each of rosemary and geranium and one drop of lavender to a teaspoon of carrier oil and gently apply to the bruise. Chapped Skin Add one drop of lavender to one cup of hot milk. Soak a face cloth in the mixture, wring it out and use as a compress on the affected area. Common Cold Massage Blend three drops of rosemary, two drops of eucalyptus and one drop of lemon in one teaspoon of carrier oil. Massage this blend around your forehead, nose, cheekbones, chest and neck. Inhalation Place one drop of eucalyptus and one drop of peppermint onto a tissue and inhale deeply as often as needed. Depression Bath and Oil burner Add two drops each of rosemary, spearmint and peppermint to either a bath of warm water or to an oil burner. Relax in the bath for 15mins. (try to go for a walk everyday to stimulate your circulation)
Fatigue Inhalation Instead of relaxing with a glass of wine after a hard days work try putting a drop of Clary Sage onto a tissue, lying down and breathing it in for 10 minutes. This should clear your mind and give your spirits a lift. Bath and Oil burner (physical fatigue) Add three drops of rosemary, two drops of pachouli and one drop of juniper to either a bath of warm water or to an oil burner. Relax in the bath for 15mins. (try to half an hour of felaxation daily until your body feels re-energised) Bath and Oil burner (mental fatigue) Add three drops of basil, two drops of rosemary and one drop of sage to a bath of warm water or to an oil burner. Relax in the bath for 15mins. Massage (mental fatigue) Massage your feet with a blend of one drop basil, one drop rosemary in 1 teaspoon or sweet almond oil. Fear Bath and Oil Burner Add 2 drops each of jasmine, juniper and basil to a warm bath or an oil burner. Relax in the bath for 15mins. (try to meditate for 20mins a day and exercise for 30mins per day) Foot odour If you suffer from this affliction try to go bare foot as often as possible to stimulate the reflex points on your soles and allows your skin to breathe properly. Foot bath Add two drops of sage or cypress to a bowl of warm water and bather your feet regularly for 10mins at a time. Shoe deoderant Put a drop of lavender and a drop of eucalyptus on a cotton ball and wipe the insides of your shoes. Hayfever Sprinkle one drop of chamomile and one drop of lemon onto a tissue and inhale as needed to ease the irritation.
Oils used in the relief of headaches are: Basil, Chamomile, Eucalyptus, Lavender, Lemongrass, Marjoram, Melissa, Peppermint and Rosemary. There are quite a few different ideas to help you ease those draining headaches. Massage Rub, massage, squeeze and rotate your big toes one by one. (this stimulates the acupressure points to the head) Then gently massage your forehead, temples, skull and the back of your neck with one drop of peppermint or one drop of rosemary to relax any tight muscles. Alternatively add three drops of lavender, two drops of rose geranium and one drop of orange to a teaspoon of carrier oil (such as jojoba, sweet almond or apricot kernal). Lie down and massage the blend gently onto your solar plexus (at the base of your breast bone) in a clockwise motion. Bath Add 3 drops of lavender, 2 drops of peppermint and one drop of rosemary to a warm (not hot) bath. Relax in the bath for 15 minutes. Inhalation add two drops of peppermint and one drop of rosemary to a bowl of hot water. Cover your head with a towel, close your eyes and inhale deeply over the bowl for 10 minutes. Compress A cold compress or lavender or geranium across the forehead will provide pleasent relief. Add five drips of one oil to a small bowl of cool or warm water, soak a cloth in the water, wring it out and lay it across the forehead. If you headache is caused by a stiff or sore neck try a sandalwood compress across your neck. This feels somewhat like the effects of deepheat but smells much nicer and relaxes your neck wonderfully. Insomnia Always try to slow down before going to bed to help encourage sound sleep. Inhalation Sprinkle a drop of lavender onto a tissue and place near your bed to ease you gently to sleep.
Muscular Aches and Pains Blend 10 drops juniper, 8 drops rosemary, 7 drops of lavender into 50ml of sweet almond oil. Massage into sore muscles. Nails Healthy fingernails Blend 6 drops lemon with 10ml jojoba oil. Rub this into your nails each morning and evening to strenghten your nails and stimulate their healthy growth Period Pains Massage your lower back and abdomen with a blend of 15 drops of clary sage in 50ml sweet almond oil. Sadness Bath or Oil Burner Add two drops of geranium, three drops of jasmine and one drop of rose oil to a bath of warm water or to an oil burner. Relax in the bath for 15mins. Repeat this weekly until you begin to feel better. (Share your feelings with a friend) Skin Care Mist Spray Blend a few drops of rose geranium, lavender or neroli in some distilled water and keep in a small spray bottles, one for the car, the office and in your bathroom. A spray of this mixture on your arms and face every few hours will keep your skin hydrated and glowing. Cucumber face mask Mix the juice of a large, peeled cucumber with the whipped white of an egg and add one drop of peppermint oil. Apply this mixture to your face but avoid your eye area. Allow this to dry for about 20mins then wash off with lukewarm water. Re-balance Oily or Acne skin Massage a blend of 1 drop cypress and 1 drop lemon oil with 5ml of jojoba oil into your face and neck each night before going to bed. Blot the excess oil after 10mins by placing a tissue over your face, pressing it gently then removing it. Rejuvenate Dry Skin Gently massage a blend of 1 drop sandalwood, 1 drop geranium and 1 drop rosewood with 5ml of peach kernal or wheatgerm oil into your face and neck, avoiding your eye area every night before bed. If you have very dry skin you can also apply this blend again in the morning. Stretch Marks Massage a blend of 50ml wheatgerm oil, 20 drops lavender and 5 drops geranium daily onto affected areas. Sun Burn Bath Cool your body by saoking for 10mins in a lukewarm bath to which 6 drops of either lavender or peppermint have been added (halve this amount for kids). Mist spray Fill a spray bottle with tepid water and add three drops of lavender. Spray the affected area as often as you need.
